Introduction
Analog record playback is extremely delicate. The grooves of an LP record are microscopic. They are smaller than human hair, and with the naked eye we really only see the surface. As the stylus travels along the tiny grooves of a record, minute movements of the cartridge create a low level electrical signal. In such an environment unwanted vibrations can easily create distortions. Zanden's TPM-1 (Turntable Platter Mat) utilizes a hybrid construction consisting of 2 layers of HANENITE material, a gel and a rubber, to maintain the stability required for analog playback.
